Alumapalooza 2017

We went to the annual Airstream gathering at the Airstream Factory  in Jackon Center, Ohio in June 2017.  We had, to say the least, a blast!

The Alumapalooza has been held at the Airstream factory for years.  They convert the surrounding grass field into a massive campground for all the Airstreams to line up in RV park style lines.  This was our first time at the event so we were very excited and anxious to see what this was all about.

The event was from May 30 – June 4, 2017, and was packed full of activities.  We went on tours of the factory,

had morning yoga classes and went on bike ride tours of the town of Jackson Center by the Airstream Travel Trailer General Manager.

They had some of the more uncommon models to see on the property.

1937 Clipper, one of the original Airstreams on display.
They had some of the popular but hard to find Class A Airstreams.

Then there was the food, glorious food.   Open grills, a catered dinner, the Airstream Manager’s Cookout, and an ice cream social.  They had happy hours with different prizes including the popular SkyMed Wine and Cheese Party.  They had the famous Men’s and Women’s product feedback session, which is always fun and informative.  There was a dutch oven cooking demonstration, hands-on workshops with invaluable information brought to us by Airstream experts, like how to polish your trailer and how to change the tires.  They even had an Airstream version of the hilarious Gong Show.  They really packed a lot of things into a short amount of time.

Some of the items we won at one of the happy hours.

The popular Trailer Park Troubadours was there to perform one night and while they were there they all autographed a guitar, the Airscreamer, in the shape of a small Bambi trailer that was made by Gibson/Epiphone.  They auctioned it off for the local Jackson Center food bank and guess what……Paul won it!  It is on loan and displayed at the best Airstream repair shop in America and our friend, Vinnie’s Northbay Airstream Repair  in Wilton CaliforniaOverall it was a fantastic time to learn more about the making of the Airstreams,  to maintain and travel in one and just a great time to meet new and hang out with old fellow Airstream friends.
